Dermo-Cosmetic Benefits of Marine Macroalgae-Derived Phenolic Compounds
نویسندگان
چکیده
Marine macroalgae have an interesting profile of bioactive compounds and gained tremendous attention in cosmeceuticals with negligible toxicity effects (cytotoxicity, reproductive toxicity, genotoxicity, mutagenicity, carcinogenicity, etc.) on humans exhibit strong benefits for the skin. Among diversified compounds, phenolic are group phytochemicals found high amounts great structural diversity. Phlorotannin is most studied polyphenol compound brown algae, but besides there some other observed such as terpenoids, bromophenols, mycosporine amino acids (MAAs), flavonoids. These already characterized their full range cosmeceutical skin whitening, moisturizing, photoprotection, antiaging, antiwrinkle, anti-melanogenic, antioxidant activities well treatment pruritus (caused by acne, eczema, dermatitis, hives, psoriasis), photoaging, pigmentation disorders (hypopigmentation due to absence melanocytes hyperpigmentation caused irritation or metabolic disorders). This review study mainly focuses marine algae-derived extraction, characterization, cosmetic described literature. The present aims provide a detailed insight into algae.

Antifouling Compounds from Marine Macroalgae
Marine macroalgae produce a wide variety of biologically-active metabolites that have been developed into commercial products, such as antibiotics, immunosuppressive, anti-inflammatory, cytotoxic agents, and cosmetic products. Many marine algae remain clean over longer periods of time, suggesting their strong antifouling potential. Isolation of biogenic compounds and the determination of their ...
متن کاملLipoxygenase inhibitors derived from marine macroalgae.
The solvent extracts from the algae Sargassum thunbergii (Sargassaceae) and Odonthalia corymbifera (Rhodomelaceae) were subjected to soybean lipoxygenase inhibitory screening. Two hydrophobic inhibitors were obtained from the extracts of S. thunbergii through inhibitory assay-guided fractionation. The inhibitors were identified as known exo-methylenic alkapolyenes (6Z,9Z,12Z,15Z)-1,6,9,12,15-he...

Accepted: 29/06/2014 Abstract Phenolic compounds, ubiquitous in plants, are essential part of human diet. Major polyphenolic compounds found in plants are flavonoids, catechins, epigallocatechin-3-gallate (EGCG), flavonones, iso-flavones, flavanols, anthocyanins, phenolic acids, stilbenes, flavonoids, chalcones, lignans etc. These compounds are secondary plant metabolites and possess antimicrob...
